We’re running a 2-day Start Keelboat Sailing course right here on Cortes Island for a small group of people.

Thanks to support from Sail Canada's "Sailing for All" initiative, the course is completely free for Indigenous, low-income, 2SLGBTQI+, seniors, and racialized members of the Cortes Island community (ages 16+).

We also have a couple of paid spots available at a special discounted rate of $350 — exclusively for Cortes Island residents because we want to keep it more accessible for our local community.

Course dates:
– June 3–4
– June 5–6

🕐 Course length: 2 days, 6 hours each day

📚 Includes a Sail Canada course book and an official Sail Canada certificate

👥 Small group, hands-on learning

📝 Sign-up open until May 29

No previous sailing experience needed – just curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a love of the water.

If you or someone you know would love to join, message us at contactcalmasailing.ca.

Funding is provided by Sail Canada’s “Sailing for All” initiative created to support grassroots programs in delivering sailing experiences to underserved and underrepresented communities and groups. The initiative was launched in December 2024 thanks to funding from the Sport Canada Community Sport for All Initiative and the Canadian Olympic Committee Return to Sport program.
