Dear Community,
Our cemeteries in Mansons Landing and Whaletown are in need of a small storage shed to conveniently house our maintenance and burial equipment—including a lawn mower, weed eater, perimeter boards, ropes, shovels, and a rake.
In partnership with the SCCA and WCC, we’re reaching out to ask for your support. If you have leftover building materials, time to lend a hand, or are able to contribute funds, we’d love to hear from you.
Here’s what would be helpful for each shed:
Exterior door (preferably 36" wide, but 32" is workable)
Windows (2–3 feet wide and high)
Sheathing plywood – ½ inch, up to 10 sheets
Subfloor plywood – ⅝ inch, 3 sheets
Pier blocks – 6
Framing lumber – 2x4 and 2x6 fir, hemlock, or balsam (we can send a list if needed)
Metal roofing – approx. 200 sq. ft.
Cedar lumber for siding – about 400 board feet, plus some 2x material for window and door trim; millable logs (someone has offered to mill them)
Labour – skilled or semi-skilled volunteers
If you can help in any way—by donating materials, time, or financial support—please contact Margaret by email at margaretislanddeathcare.ca or by phone at 250-204-2709.
Thank you for supporting our community cemeteries.
