We are thrilled to share that our new playground structure is up and already buzzing with joyful energy from students! A special part of this project is the cedar log border that surrounds the play space—adding both beauty and a sense of place.
This would not have been possible without the incredible generosity and effort of Mark Lombard, Matt Cuscianna, Ron Walda, and John Ross, who helped secure and deliver the cedar logs. Your time, tools, and teamwork made this happen, and we are so grateful.

Big thanks also to Henry Verschuur, Aaron Ellingsen, and Klahoose First Nation for being on “stand by” and offering support along the way—it was deeply appreciated and speaks to the community spirit that surrounds our school.

It’s been so heartwarming to see this come together as a true community effort to create something new and exciting for Cortes Island youth. Thank you all for helping make it happen!
