Many Cortes residents in the past used Wheels for Wellness to get to medical appointments elsewhere than Campbell River. This service has been replaced with a centralized Island Health service which can provide transportation to and from medical appointments on Vancouver Island. It can also provide return transportation to CR, if needed, from another site. If you are not sure if your appointment is eligible, do contact them to find out.
It is free but does require pre registration. Ideally 48 hours notice is needed but they can sometime accommodate shorter notice, so do try.
They don’t provide door to door service on Quadra or Cortes but will meet the ferry in Campbell River, at a time that works for you. An escort is welcome to accompany you if needed.
