FRIDAY, JANUARY 24: Climate Café

The new Cortes Climate Action Network is hosting its first event:
Climate Café!

Friday Jan 24, 1–3PM in the Pioneer Room at Manson’s Hall.

Free coffee, tea, cookies and conversation!

The aim of our first café is to start a conversation about the climate and resiliency implications of the DRAFT zoning bylaw revisions published in December.

We will offer a very brief overview of the proposed changes. Then, we’d like to focus on our Rural Zone. What are the advantages and disadvantages of allowing more density in the wilder parts of Cortes? How might more homes — and people — on our most rural properties affect our climate impacts and community resiliency in these changing times?

Lastly, based on the overview of the proposed changes, we’ll take your feedback on what other topics within the zoning bylaw update you’d like to put that climate and resiliency lens on at near-future cafés.

Hope to see you there, but if you can’t make it and want to converse or provide input, you can reach us at cortesclimateproton.me. You can also reach out directly to the SRD at https://srd.ca/feedback-cortes-zoning-bylaw-review-project/

This event is being paid for through a generous microgrant awarded by the Cortes Foundation.

An inclusive, safer, and sacred community space to explore authentic non-verbal expression through ecstatic dance and movement for the purpose of health and transformation.

Dance Temple is an invitation to tune in to your body, join with other dancers, celebrate, meditate, express and unwind. It is an open dance floor for you to explore different rhythms, sounds, patterns of movement and whatever arises in your inner journey.

All ages, all genders, all bodies, and all parts of YOU are welcome.

Regular Temple Guidelines:
1. Move however you wish
2. No talking on the dance floor
3. Respect yourself and one another

Dance Temple is a smoke-free, alcohol-free and scent-free space. Please also refrain from phones and outdoor shoes.

The facilitators of Dance Temple hold a strong intention to honour movement and dance as an essential and powerful expression of self and connection to others. We acknowledge the healing and creative nature of movement and recognize that fun, play and humour are vital to this practice.
