It's a pleasure to bring you a new season of Nature Boy .
We start Wednesday, Jan.8th's episode ( 9:30AM), with my analyses of the Dec 28th Christmas Count. Seventy-four species recorded - 4545 individuals - observed by 40 participants - a testament to the keen interest in counting our birds on this annual census. Organized by the Cortes Island Museum and Archives Society. This, the 24th annual Cortes count, is a quantitative record of our fine feathered friends. The data goes to Bird Studies Canada to join the multitude of counts across Canada ( and the world!). I want to especially want to thank Gina at the museum for her diligence and devotion to coordinating the count.
In the second part of the show we will go to Costa Rica! I worked as a naturalist-guide aboard a 70 passenger ship that travelled the Pacific, from Costa Rica to the Panama Canal, in 2019. Over the next couple of months I will replay my recordings of this voyage of adventure. We'll start in Manuel Antonio National Park CR and study its wildlife.
Episodes are repeated on Sundays (12th&19th) at 10:30 AM and Wed 15th 9:30 AM. On the 22nd I'll continue with new adventures in Latin America- your perfect carbon neutral holiday...ON CKTZ 89.5 FM or on the web Cortes radio.ca
