Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned forager, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and skills to enjoy the ocean’s bounty while respecting its natural balance.

What we'll be learning:
Learn to read the tides, identify the best spots, and use the right tools for ethical and effective harvesting.
Navigate the DFO red tide website, understand health advisories, and avoid common risks.
Harvest responsibly by following local regulations, respecting size and catch limits, and protecting sensitive ecosystems like eelgrass beds. Shellfish are the most ecologically friendly animal protein food on the planet, so eating them is already a win!
Master techniques for purging sand, preserving your catch, and cooking delicious, nutrient-packed shellfish dishes.
Explore the rich traditions of shellfish harvesting, shellfish culture from around the world, importance of living life connected to the land and sea.
Discover the nutritional value of shellfish and how they can be a healthy addition to your diet.

What to bring:
Bucket, with lid ideally
Headlamp
Rubber boots
