FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13: Friday Market
Our weekly Friday Market takes place every Friday afternoon from 12 to 3 PM in the Main Hall. In light of the postal strike, why not find some lovely local gifts at this beloved weekly event?!
Indulge in a variety of goods at the market, including delicious food, baked delights, locally-made pottery, artisan soaps, natural beauty products, sharpening services, handmade crafts, collectible knives, mammoth, screen-printed t-shirts with local artwork, jade and amber pendants, handmade cards, silver & gold locally-made jewelry, and fresh pasta creations. See you there!
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13: Thrift Store
The SCCA Thrift Store is open during the Friday Market 12-3 pm with plenty of gently used clothing items for the entire family to choose from. You will find it down the hall to the Pioneer Room. All items are sold by a suggested donation to the SCCA.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13: Cortes Island School PAC Gala (Dance and Silent Auction!)
Support Our Island School FRI, DEC 13
Join us for a festive night filled with delicious desserts, drinks, door prizes, a DJ, dancing, and an exciting auction! This is the PAC’s major fundraiser for the 2024-25 school year, helping fund arts, science, sports, guest facilitators, field trips, student gardens, the library, and infrastructure improvements.
Tickets are just $20 each, which includes admission, a decadent dessert, access to the auction, and chances to win door prizes. Bidding starts at 7 PM, with winners announced at 9 PM, followed by dancing until 11 PM.
Grab some bubbly, wine or beer and peruse our over $10,000 in auction items for you to win! Bids start as low as $20. $50 for some very big ticket items like hotel stays, resort & spa stays, whale watching tours, sailing tours, full-day fishing charters, firewood with delivery, massages, acupunctures, $500+ curated gift baskets with upscale restaurant gift cards, self-care, gift certificates from stores in Courtenay, CR, Tofino, festival weekend passes to multiple festivals, tattoo gift certificate, diamonds (yes real diamonds!), artwork.. the lists go on and on!
There’s truly something for everyone! We hope to see everyone out supporting our island school.
This is a 19+ event. Two shuttles can bring folks home if needed.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15: Yoga with Kelly
Kelly Benson is offering three drop-in yoga classes at Mansons Hall:
Vinyasa Flow Sundays 11:00 / Thursdays at 5:30 pm, and Seniors Yoga Tuesdays 11am. All classes are in the Om Studio. For more info email kbrock55yahoo.ca
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17: Parents & Tots
All caregivers and little ones (ages 0 to 4+) are invited to drop in for playtime and community connection.
Every Tuesday from 10:30 to 12:30 at Manson’s Hall, Main Hall.

Please note that Parents & Tots will not be held the following two weeks, but will resume on Jan. 7th.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17: Free Movement and Mobility Class for Seniors
This class will focus on small isolated movements and exercises to help keep mobility and movement in the joints. This class is for seniors and those with health/mobility challenges.
Tuesdays 11:00am Om Studio (upstairs Mansons Hall)

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18: T’ai Chi Ch’uan with Judyth Weaver
T’ai Chi Ch’uan is a low-impact exercise that is ideal for seniors. These slow, gentle movements can improve balance, strength, flexibility, and range of motion and decrease the effects of common degenerative diseases and pains. It is a standing/moving exercise that can be done anywhere, anytime and doesn’t need special clothing or shoes.
The class will be offered on Wednesdays, from 10 to 11 in the Om Studio.
The classes are free. Donations to the CISS are welcome.
