Caring for Cortes is a Community Effort

Did you know? The Cortes Foundation is one of the first Foundations in Canada to be able to invest in significant local impact without an endowment.
We are trying out a new way to invest. We invest in community not in stock markets. That means, we don’t wait until our pockets are full to give. When you donate to the Cortes Community Foundation, your money immediately supports the Cortes community.
In the last couple of years, we have seen a remarkable amount of giving, thanks to the generosity of neighbours and visitors, with donations from $20 to $2 million, all going immediately to support the people and places of Cortes Island: from Micro-grants for Neighbours to Operational Grants for Community Organizations, from the direct Gifting of the Giving Well to supporting projects such as fulltime childcare pilot and high school scholarships, and from Social Profit meet-ups to the development of the Village Commons shared community space, this community believes in giving.
