Dear Parents and Cortes Island Community Members,

As we continue to cultivate an enriching environment for our students at the Cortes Island School, we are excited at co-creating an opportunity to get involved. This year, we are, once again, seeking volunteers (note: honoraria are available) to help facilitate a workshop series, a lunch hour activity or an after-school event that might inspire curiosity, creativity, and connexion.

Lunch break runs from 12:00pm to 12:30pm—which is not much time—but if you have an art, craft, or sport or game (the gymnasium is available), particularly something on a rainy day—that would be great. We are also looking for atrists or facilitators for the following clubs and activities (and are open to other creative ideas you might propose):

• Chess and/or other Board Games
• Art & Craft Club
• Intramural Sports (in the gym or on the field)
• Science, arts, or play-based workshops by local artists, craftspeople, naturalists, etc.

Thanks to the generous support of the Parent Advisory Council, we are able to provide honoraria to recognize the time and preparation involved. Facilitators will receive $50 per session, with a typical 4-part program earning $200. Programs could run weekly for 4-6 sessions or follow another flexible schedule depending on your availability.

We believe these activities will contribute to the holistic development of our students, foster a positive school culture, and deepen connexions between the school and our community. If you are interested in contributing your time and expertise, please contact Principal Datura or the school office. A short informal proposal may be required for PAC review to qualify for the honorarium.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the well-being of our island youth.

With poetry & pinecones,

Michael D. Datura
