The Cortes Housing Society is spreading the word about available rentals for both shop space and housing, as well as spreading the word about other housing related opportunities outside of the direct CHS involvement including the possibility of lending funds to help a Cortes resident purchase property here.
Houses for Rent:
4 bedroom house
The Cortes Housing Society is seeking tenants for the 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house at Orchard Village, located at 671 Sutil Point Road. The tenants that were planning to rent it have had to change direction, so the house is available for rent. The septic system is currently being replaced, so it could be available starting in November or December. It has three smaller bedrooms with a bathroom that has a walk-in bathtub and a larger bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. It’s fully furnished now, but could be rented without furniture. It is wheelchair accessible with ramps. It has a large attached garage, large decks and is located on a beautiful property with shared gardens. We are seeking $1,950 per month + utilities. 2 bedroom house
We are aware of a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house for rent on the South End on a pretty and private lot. The house has recently had upgrades and is available for rent for a year-to-year lease. It’s currently fully furnished, but that can be negotiated if you have your own furniture. The owner is seeking $2,000 per month + utilities. Shop space available
The Cortes Housing Society (CHS) is seeking proposals for the use of the shop at Orchard Village (671 Sutil Point Road). The shop is 30 ft x 30 ft with large garage doors and high ceilings. CHS is looking for proposals from people or organizations that would like to rent the shop. We are seeking tenants that add value to the community. If you are interested, please email: infocortescommunityhousing.org. We will be asking all interested parties to prepare a short proposal. We are planning to offer tours of the shop during the week of October 14th. The shop could be available starting in January, 2025.
Private lending needed
A long-time resident of Cortes is working to purchase a property and is in need of private lending. This person is a tremendous contributor to our island and it would be wonderful if they could purchase here. While they have considerable funds to put down on the property, due to the specifics of the land, they aren’t able to get a mortgage. So, we are wondering if anyone on Cortes would be interested in providing private lending to support this purchase for a resident who is employed on island. The loan terms would be less than 5 years and would be secured by the property and include a generous interest rate. The person is seeking a loan of approximately $400,000.
