Our workshop is full now. Thank you for your interest. If you missed it, there could be another chance next year.
******Join us at the Cortes Island Museum on Sunday, October 27 and Monday, October 28, 2024, as we weave culture, tradition, and cedar with Heiltsuk artist, carver, traditional cedar weaver and teacher Ivan Rosypskye. Originally from Bella Bella, Ivan's current home is qathet / Powell River and Cortes Island.
Over this two-day immersive, hands-on workshop, Ivan will share tradition, stories, and culture while demonstrating the art and craft of cedar weaving. At the end of the workshop, each participant will take home a beautiful traditional cedar hat, ideal for boating and gardening. All materials will be supplied, and no previous experience is required.
Proceeds from this special workshop will benefit the artist and will support future culture-focused programs at the Cortes Island Museum.
