After 12 years of being the editor I am handing over the editorial role of the Tideline. As of this weekend you will see a new name in the right hand side corner of cortesisland.com - Bryan McKinnon/Cortes Radio will be taking over. It has not been an easy decision, but I am very happy to pass it along to someone that is committed to keep it going and free for the community! The Cortes Island Community Foundation is proud to partner with Cortes Community Radio in managing Tideline into the future and they are committed to the long term sustainability of what we all believe is an essential community asset.
Wow, what can I say; it has been a very special time and I have really loved being the editor. Having said that, approving ads and articles 7 days a week, multiple times a day for 12 years is definitely a time consuming community project :) I am ready to shift; throw more pots, make art, spend more time in the garden, hike to places without cell service, make music, take a real holiday – just have more time for my personal life.
I really look forward to a better work-life balance with the Better at Home program & my web design business - you will see my name continue to appear when I submit photos for the gallery and articles for the organizations/programs I am involved in (Better at Home, community meals, etc) and I will be on the Tideline advisory committee/support/tech team.
Thank you – Thank you!
To the Cortes community at large – you really supported the Tideline over the years with your community announcements, photos, notes, ads, events, you have contributed so much.
To everyone that took the time to send me a nice note, a letter, a poem or stopped me on the road - your appreciation kept me going.
To Barry, Om, Lyle and Marc - behind the scenes tech/trouble shooting support is invaluable and Marc has also been an excellent server provider.
To all the sponsors and donors over the years for providing financial support to keep it running.
To Manda for connecting the dots and Bryan/Cortes Radio for taking it on.
To Jen Nelson and Stephanie Asbeck who gave me a break when I needed one.
All of you above, your commitment to support this Cortes online hub has been so great!– keep it coming – it is what makes it so amazing.
This transition comes with a new contact email address for the Tideline: tidelinecortesradio.ca
