FRIDAY, JULY 5: Friday Market (plus the Awakeneers in Concert!) Our summer weekly Friday Market takes place every Friday afternoon from 12 to 3 PM in the Main Hall, with plenty of more vendors outside on the front deck and on the upper level by the radio station.
Plus this week The Awakeneers will perform in concert from 1-2:30 outside under the Big Tent!

FRIDAY, JULY 5: Thrift StoreThe SCCA Thrift Store is open during the Friday Market 12-3 pm with plenty of gently used clothing items for the entire family to choose from. You will find it down the hall to the Pioneer Room. All items are sold by a suggested donation to the SCCA.
SATURDAY, JULY 6: Taze Kozak and the Sweet Talkin' Hustlers The Coal Dust Gang is coming to downtown Mansons this Saturday with Taze Kozak and the Sweet Talkin Hustlers! Mansons Hall at 8:00. $25 admission. Doors open at 8:00.

MONDAY, JULY 8: SRD Short-Term Rentals Public Hearing Start Time: 5:00 p.m.
All lands in Electoral Area B for which residential use is permitted. Purpose: To propose zoning bylaw amendments to regulate Short-Term Rentals (STRs) in Electoral Area B in response to Bill 35, the Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act, 2023. The bylaw proposes allowing STRs in all zones for which residential use is permitted.
Copies of the proposed bylaw and related information are available for inspection at the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) Customer Service Centre, located at 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, from June 26, 2024, until 12:00 noon on Monday, July 8 th , 2024, excluding the public holiday on July 1st.
The public hearing will be chaired by the Director of Electoral Area B, representing the SRD Board. Anyone who believes their interests are affected by the proposed bylaw amendments will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing. Persons unable to attend the hearing can submit signed written submissions to form part of the public hearing record provided submissions are delivered via post, by hand to the SRD Community Services Desk or electronically to planningsrd.ca no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, July 8th, 2024. Submissions that do not meet the above requirements or are made after the close of the public hearing cannot be considered.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 3: T’ai Chi Ch’uanT’ai Chi Ch’uan is a low-impact exercise that is ideal for seniors. These slow, gentle movements can improve balance, strength, flexibility, and range of motion and decrease the effects of common degenerative diseases and pains. It is a standing/moving exercise that can be done anywhere, anytime and doesn’t need special clothing or shoes.
Judyth Weaver received permission to teach TCC from the school of Grand Master Cheng Man-Ch’ing in 1971, and she has been teaching it regularly around the world since then.
The class will be offered on Wednesdays, from 11 am till noon in the Om Studio.
The classes are free. Donations to the CISS are welcome.

CANCELLED THURSDAY, JULY 11: Simon Kempston in Concert SORRY TO SAY, THUS CONCERT HAS BEEN CANCELLED AS A MANAGEMENT DECISION.
Simon Kempston as ‘One of Scotland’s very best singer-songwriters.’ Scottish Television said he is ‘a stunning Talent.’ Tom Robinson of BBC Radio 6 added, ‘Beautifully authentic guitar style & heartfelt vocals.’
Kempston will be performing at Mansons Hall on Cortes Island, at 7 PM on July 11th. This is his ninth Canadian Tour.
Simon Kempston has just released a new album, 'You Can't Win Every Time' (engineered and produced by Ian McCalman of the McCalmans). The album is receiving regular airplay on BBC Radio across the UK and has been very well received by reviewers, picking up great write-ups in newspapers & magazines across the UK.
