Frank Combest returned from hospital to our home a month ago on his death bed. After being returned to his Cortes home and surrounded by love, friends, Zyla and her stuffies, he returned to life. It has been a beautiful month of reflectiveness, gratitude and beauty. The doors to our home have been thrown open to so much goodwill and kindness. These passages have the ability to bring out the best in us if we allow it.

We have been able to complete all his end-of-life paperwork, which has been such an experiential learning in the profound value of having it all in place, and the difficulty of not having it done. It has allowed those who Frank wants to make his decisions with him to be empowered to do so, and his assets to be distributed posthumously according to his wishes rather than the default of the law. I strongly encourage us all to do this good work while we are sound of mind and healthy. So much good information to support that is available here: https://communityleddeathcare.ca/

Frank has asked me to write on his behalf, to extend his profound gratitude to this Cortes community in which he has lived for 40 years, to all the people who have been in his circles, in his life, in all the ways. Cortes is deeply home to him and he is feeling so much gratitude for all the ways that this community has supported him throughout his life. As is the invitation at these portal times, he has been reflecting on the choices he has made in his life and wishing he had made better ones. He is feeling humbled by his shortcomings and profoundly grateful for all the ways that people have showed up to support him in love nonetheless.

“Sorry for anything I have done and thank you to this community.” Frank
