Featured here is the Foxglove Pottery Studio – Mary Claire Preston:
When you visit my studio, you will find me at work in some part of the process of hand-making functional stoneware vessels. I've been working with clay most of my adult life, but having my own space is still new. Clay work is a meditation for me, an anchor, grounding me in the insanity of our times. I like to make functional wares, and it is most satisfying to know that my vessels are enjoyed by people in their daily lives: held during morning tea or coffee or ... a bowl for yummy soup, salad or bread making. I’m branching out to experiment with different vessels: carved soap dishes and candle holders and butter dishes too.
While you are here, you can watch a demonstration and see some of my finished works displayed.Tickets are available at the Cortes Museum, 957 Beasley Road; Wild Cortes, 1255 Seaford Road; Cortes Island stores (Natural Food Co-op, The Cortes Market, Marnie's Books, Gorge Harbour Marina Store, Squirrel Cove General Store, and Hollyhock); Inspirations on Quadra Island, 671 Plaza Road, Quathiaski Cove; and on the event day at the Whaletown Garden Centre, 315 Carrington Road, Cortes Island (just off the ferry).
Discover Cortes Island: pack a picnic, hop on the ferry if you're coming from Quadra or Campbell River, carpool with friends, or bring your e-bike!
