Comox Strathcona Waste Management, Klahoose Shellfish Ltd Partnership and Friends of Cortes Island are organizing a huge whole island BEACH CLEAN UP!
During the month of May we have been asking you to clean up the island’s beaches. Thanks to everyone who has taken part – we are delighted to see that the super sacks put out around the island are filling up!
This weekend, Oceans Day June 8th and 9th 10am-2pm, you can bring any garbage you have also collected to an Ocean Legacy Bin at the Klahoose Aquaculture Building (across from the Klahoose health centre). Help with sorting is also very much appreciated.
Comox Strathcona Waste Management will be there with an info stall and refreshments. So please drop by and join in the fun!
The attached brochure explains the types of marine garbage that you can bring. Please don’t bring household or other garbage.
This is also the last call out for you to help clean up garbage off the beaches! You can still drop off garbage at super sacks at the locations below, or store it at home and bring it along on the weekend.
• Hanks Beach Regional Park
• The Recycling Centre
• Hollyhock
• Mansons Landing Government Dock
• Hayes Road Beach Access
• Plunger Pass Beach Access (Seavista)
We hope you will take part, and help get the garbage off the beaches, out of the ocean and ..off to be recycled!
Special thanks to all our partners!
