GinaT Seafest
Thanks are due to the many enthusiastic helpers who made this year's festival so fantastic.
First of all, a big thanks to Curt, Terry, and Chase for making the spectacular site available for the event!
In the food court, our fantastic cooks were Ayami and Bruce, Penny and Claude, Sujon, Stev Pocock and Linda, Megan and Zack – all were cooking oysters. Harriet poached oysters and made a salad.
Brian Cant, assisted by Lavinia, cooked the clams; Clare and Andy cooked the scallops; and Izzy cooked the prawns.
Manning the BBQs were Nicki and Linda, Janet Forsyth, and Kate and Sandy.
Carl and Patti Simpson heated and sliced garlic bread, and Dawn Ross served clams and salad.
Behind the scenes, Leanne Campbell prepared copious amounts of salad while Nicki prepared the Motoyaki sauce. Craig also helped in the food court, going wherever he was needed. Thanks to Linnaea Farm for the use of their kitchen.
Savannah washed some 2500 oysters, supplied by the amazing shuckers Jimmy and Dianne, who put in a guest appearance from Campbell River, in addition to Ian and Cathy, Geoff, Phil Allen, Dave Nikleva, Sonja Friesen, Forrest, Heidi, and Germaine. Apart from the 24,500 oysters, this great team also shucked 600 scallops!
Del Hendon single-handedly sold tickets and handed out plates; she was amazing! (in the top photo)
Sandy, Jay, and Carl, along with other volunteers, put up and dismantled the tents! Thank you so much.
Scotty did a masterful job organizing the musicians, playing and singing, and acting as the MC (Master of Ceremony). Sandy helped Scotty organize the music part of the Seafest. Our great musicians and entertainers were Kenny Hanuse, Laurel Bohart, Michael Keith, David Blintzinger, and, of course, Shelley and Scotty. Thanks to all of you.
Special thanks to Gina for her excellent publicity and to Julia Rendall and David Nikleva for coordinating the whole event.
Finally, thank you to all the vendors who helped make the festival a success, and thank you to all the seafood suppliers who provided the raw ingredients for a delicious feast.
