MAY 17: Friday Market

This week’s Market promises to be a very special one, as our MP Rachel Blaney will be in attendance, and many of our summer vendors will also be set up outdoors! Carie from Sunflower Foods will also be there, now serving up sushi and other delectable treats for hungry market shoppers!

Our weekly Friday Market takes place every Friday afternoon from 12 to 3 PM in the Main Hall.

Our market offers such rare goodies as baked goods, gems and crystals, hand-made drums and rattles, artisan soaps, natural beauty products, knife-sharpening, jewelry, mushrooms, tech support, and Turkish textiles! Come on out and support your local vendors; this is one of the island's most-beloved weekly events.

MAY 17: Thrift Store

The SCCA Thrift Store is open during the Friday Market 12-3 pm with plenty of gently used clothing items for the entire family to choose from. You will find it down the hall to the Pioneer Room. All items are sold by a suggested donation to the SCCA.

MAY 17: “As I Roved” Bronwyn Clair Asha Churcher in Concert!

Friday, May 17th, Bronwyn Churcher brings her one-woman theatre, Celtic folk music and storytelling show to the Cortes community for one night only!

Her show is a 1.5-hour music and storytelling performance that premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year and she is very excited to bring it over to Canada for the very first time.

"Journey along ancient song lines with The Bardesse, everywoman time-travelling troubadour, as your guide. Weaving together theatre, traditional Celtic folk ballads and storytelling accompanied by fiddle and guitar, Canadian multi-instrumentalist and performer, Bronwyn Claire Asha, invites you on a delightful and immersive voyage through the history of song and story to discover just how connected we are to each other, to our earth, and to those we came before us. The future has an ancient heart – will you take up the call in remembrance of it?"
