Mansons Hall then Kw'as Park
983 Beasley Rd, Mansons Landing
The Strathcona Regional District’s Emergency Program and Friends of Cortes Island would like to invite you to a field tour at Kw’as Park. Please come prepared to be outside with sturdy shoes. We will meet in the Pioneer Room at Manson’s Hall at 3:30 pm and begin with an indoor presentation. Professional childcare will be available at Manson's Hall Playschool during the field tour.
Learn how co-existing with beavers can protect wildlife habitats, save community resources, and solve problems related to drought, flooding, and infrastructure damage. Sessions teach non-lethal, low-impact strategies such as pond levellers and beaver exclusion fencing to manage beaver activities.
This project aims to protect and conserve aquatic ecosystems and wetlands created and maintained by beavers. These wetlands provide crucial ecosystem services that support climate change adaptation and resilience, such as cleaning and storing water, sequestering carbon, moderating climate extremes, and mitigating floods and erosional precipitation events.
This session will be facilitated by professionals from VanIsle Wetlands and Rewilding Water &
Earth Inc.
Limited Spots Available.
