Please join us for the Cortes Island Museum & Archives Society Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2023

• Doors open at 12:30 for new memberships and renewals
• Meeting starts at 1 p.m.

A special resolution regarding a change to our bylaws will be proposed at the AGM. This change will permit the board of directors to appoint a Director Emeritus.

Following the brief business meeting, we invite everyone to stay for a special presentation by Ashe Biela & family:

"Sailing Distant Star: A Journey of Mishap and Marvel"

In August 2019, Luka, Ashe, Ilo, Makawi, and Khalil Biela cut ties from their beloved shores of Cortes Island to discover a dream and a world beyond it. Covering 15,000 nautical miles of ocean landscape, they sailed to the South Pacific Islands and back. They travelled in times of COVID, through fierce lightning storms, starlit luminescent nights, remote Marquesan temples, pristine underwater reefs, and iridescent lagoons. What was meant to be a coming of age for the teenagers became one for us all.
