Are you ready for spring?
I know that I sure am! With this late blast of winter weather I can feel almost an itch in my bones to get out, to move, to dance, to get in the garden and to be in warmth.
On Friday, March 22, Tanya and I invite you to call spring into your hearts and bones with cacao, breathwork and ecstatic dance. This is a longer than usual event running 6:00-8:30 at Mansons Hall.
The cost for the whole evening is $35
Please note that pre-registration is required to ensure that there is enough cacao for the number of participants
email blossomschocolategmail.com to register.
If you wish to join for Dance Temple only, doors will open at 7:00 to invite in others who have not been with us for cacao and ceremony.
$15-$25 at the door for Dance Temple.
No one will be turned away from Dance Temple for lack of funds.
Please email Connie at rainbows.edge.infogmail.com if you wish to help out in exchange for free admission.
Flow of the evening:
6:00 - 7:00
Tanya Krahn invites you to join in gentle breathwork techniques to ground and tune into the body’s somatic senses, followed by ceremonial cacao to open the heart and flood the body with euphoric alchemy, then work with torus energy movements to free the body's energy lines for dance.
7:00 8:30
Ecstatic Dance with Connie Q (aka DJ Moon Cat) inviting spring into our bodies. Free form movement to a consciously curated musical journey allowing ourselves to move through whatever arises for us. A space for emotional wellness,
for physical wellness,
for spiritual practice,
for mindfulness,
and just for the fun of it.
Closing with a didgeridoo sound journey.
You are invited to bring water and comfortable clothing you can move in.
As always with Dance Temple, our dance floor remains:
- consent-based: you are welcome to move with others when there is enthusiastic consent.
- conversation-free dance floor: connecting is welcome in the hall and afterwards.
- sober: with recognition that some medicine can help us to participate when we might otherwise not be able.
Please avoid phones and outdoor shoes in the dance space.
On Sober Dance Spaces
I was talking with a new friend the other day who expressed some hesitancy about dancing sober, not feeling sure if they would be able to relax into the space for fear of self-consciousness.
To this, I offer an invitation. If this is a concern of yours then this can be a space to really feel into that and where that fear comes from.
How can you take care of yourself in these spaces?
Some ideas:
- Sit off to the side, outside, or in the hall when nervousness becomes too much and be gentle with yourself as you move in and out of dance.
- Can you dance into that fear to see what arises as you watch the nervousness rise and fall?
- Be comfortable in what you are wearing. Drink water.
- Sometimes engage in more familiar movements such as yoga, stretching or tai chi rather than dance if it feels scary.
In this space most of us are focused primarily on our own dance and not looking at each other except occasionally in friendly support.
We all need safer spaces to be in.
What would it feel like to be totally free in how you dance and move?
