You are invited to join the Cortes Island Seniors Society (CISS) if you are 50+. The Society manages the current Seniors Village, pays for renting Manson's Hall for certain seniors' activities and meetings, sends out a monthly newsletter with news relating to Cortes seniors, and organizes some island-wide events.
To find more information about our programs and activities, check this
Tideline post or our
Facebook page.
Membership in the Society is very important as it shows your support for the organization and its programming.
MESSAGE FROM THE CISS BOARDThe Cortes Island Seniors Society is coming to the end of another year, and our AGM will be upon us in no time when we hope to recruit new board members.
New board members must be over 50 years old to qualify and are expected to attend five or six meetings each year; other than that, no other qualifications are required.
If you're new to the Island and would like to meet new people, this is a great way to get out and socialize. We run bingo, bowling, and T’ai Chi Ch’uan classes and organize our annual Christmas Dinner.
Our main responsibilities include running the Seniors Village with ten one-bedroom houses, so any interest in gardening, building maintenance, grant writing and water systems would be most welcome. Please contact Carolyn Howson at 250-935-0281.
