Helen - FOCI
Newts have starting crossing the roads on their spring migration! Please keep watch for them. They are heading from the forests to their breeding grounds this time of year. They particularly like crossing when it is wet.

Yellow and black 'Newt X-ing' signs are mounted in areas considered 'hotspots' of larger newt migrations, close to wetlands. However, newts can be spotted all around the island, and newt crossings can be up to 1km long.

Please drive carefully and do your best to avoid running over the newts -- they look like small upturned leaves, or twigs on the roads.

For more information on newts, check out our https://www.friendsofcortes.org/newt-x-ing-project/

Thank you for looking out for the newts!
