Kindness won on Cortes!

The BC Court of Appeal finally released its ruling in the case that I made against the Strathcona Regional District, ruling unanimously and completely in my favour.

I am so profoundly grateful for this community’s commitment to honesty and transparency, integrity and kindness. This is ultimately what has prevailed. It’s a bittersweet win, because I shouldn’t have had to take this action if sanity, good judgement and even self interest had prevailed at the Regional District. But now there is clear and compelling case law (thanks to my relentless and passionate legal team to whom I owe this entire win) at the highest BC court. This case enshrines the right of regional district and municipal elected officials to informed legal counsel as well as their right to have financial backing when legal actions are taken against them as it relates to their role in elected office.

And on Cortes, we can put down this collective weight we have been carrying and let the light pour into the space it has been occupying. May this, above all, be a note that spiteful action does not prevail in this community. We know better. Kindness and honesty wins here!

And excellent, extensive coverage, including an interview I did with De Clarke a few days ago, can be read and listened to (well worth the listen) on Cortes Currents here:

My love to you all, and a deep bow of gratitude for your support.
