Poetry for Everyday (January 7, 21)
2 poetry writing sessions led by Dayna Davis

We will read some favourite poems, explore the poetic styles of some contemporary poets (Mary Oliver, Barbara Ras, James Wright, Sharon Olds) and write poetry!
Through language/image building and sensory exercises we will write from childhood memory, everyday experiences and in celebration of the natural world.
You do not have to be a poet to join, just have a love of poetry and a willingness to explore the written word.

Truth or Fiction: Mining our life experiences to create great fiction. (January 14, 28)
2 fiction writing sessions led by Monica Nawrocki
Most fiction contains an echo of someone/somewhere/ or something real. Using experiences from our lives, we will transform our personal stories into fiction by playing with the elements of point of view, character, plot, setting, and theme. Maybe even metaphor! Previous writing experience is not necessary.
