We are planning to discharge firearms while hunting geese between 12 and 3pm on Thursday November 9 at kʷumaχən / Smelt Bay, Xwo'ohs / Sutil point and Hollyhock beach. We will place signs on the road adjacent to where we will be hunting.

We are letting you know ahead of time because we want to minimize stress for people and dogs in areas that are more populated. We are licensed, experienced and ethical hunters. We follow all guidelines, rules, and safety regulations.

Background on hunting geese
We hunt canadian geese because they are a nourishing food source, and to help with eelgrass habitat restoration. Canadian geese are an invasive species that have had a negative impact on eelgrass in this territory. Eelgrass is a critical salmon rearing habitat, and is important to many other sea creatures.
