A compassionate community is one where people come together to actively support those affected by aging, frailty, serious or life-limiting illnesses, caregiving, or grief and bereavement experiences. If you, or someone you know, could benefit from companionship, connection, making important decisions, support in navigating the health care system, planning for future needs, or some respite, there are trained volunteers in the community available to help. Thanks to a Seed Grant from the BC Centre for Palliative Care obtained by the CCHA, and the generosity of the volunteers, this service is offered free of charge.
Carina Verhoeve, who brings a wealth of experience, connections, and passion to this project, is the Volunteer Coordinator. If you or anyone you know is living with a life limiting illness, isolated, frail, dying, grieving or caregiving, please contact Carina at 935-6793.
