HEAR YE, HEAR YE... all mushroom aficionados!
The Forest Trust for the Children of Cortes Island Society (FTCCIS) is delighted to announce...
...MYCO-BLITZ 2023!
Mark your calendars - November 01 at the Linnaea Education Center.
We have invited Andy MacKinnon (Co-author of Mushrooms of BC), Paul Kroeger (President of the Vancouver Mycological Society) and Paul Stamets (Founder of Fungi Perfecti), to join the Cortes community in a celebration of - Kingdom Fungi.
We will be documenting the fungal diversity of Cortes Island for the Biodiversity Cortes Project and making a collection for UBC’s Beaty Biodiversity Museum.
Fungal fruiting bodies, AKA mushrooms, are already popping out of the ground on Cortes like popcorn! Please document what you see, by taking photographs of the cap & gills; create a photo file and bring it to the experts for identification.
A community fungal forest walk, the afternoon of November 01, will be followed by an evening presentation with our guests and a screening of Merlin Sheldrake’s new film: Fungi: Web of Life. Marnie’s Books will be on site with Andy’s new book, Mushrooms of BC, for sale.
Add to the Myco-merriment by transforming a hat or toque into the fruiting body of your favourite mushroom! Let’s welcome our esteemed guests to Cortes... in style!
Details of timings TBA closer to the date, here on Tideline and on posters throughout the community. FTCCIS looks forward to welcoming the Cortes community to MYCO-BLITZ 2023!
