The intention of this report is to provide a resource for islanders and visitors to estimate the carbon footprint of their travels to and from Cortes.

Personal emissions are important because we care about doing less harm, and we want to stand in solidarity with those contributing the least to climate change, we want to understand by doing. They aren't enough, or the most important thing – so please keep in mind that only collective action and people power can institute the necessary changes to avoid the worst, and make our home safer, healthier and more fair.

It's important to keep our personal emissions in context and hold them gently. If' you're a lower income person, your personal emissions are likely below a reasonable amount at this time. It is primarily those with more financial resources who are carrying the responsibility to reduce.1

Climate change is an emergency - - we've seen the devastating impacts at 1.3C of warming. We've left the problem for too long, and now only drastic reductions in pollution can keep us safe, and prevent extreme and irreversible harm.
