Friends of Cortes Island invites you to join us for a Western Screech Owl Nest Box making workshop on Sunday 24th Sept 1.30-3.30pm at the Village Commons Tent.
The workshop is being run by Autumn Barrett-Morgan and involves putting together specially made nest box kits. It is a great activity for kids and adults alike. Everyone is welcome, refreshments provided.
The Western Screech owl is a beautiful little owl, which lives here on Cortes. But is in trouble – its numbers have plummeted in BC in recent years. We’re working with researchers to find out more about them on Cortes and in our neighbouring Discovery Islands.
We are also putting up nest boxes to provide more nesting habitat for them. The boxes made during the workshop will be put up in carefully selected locations around the island. You can find out more about our Western Screech Owl Project HERE
