Friends of Cortes Island has recently had a number of reports of wolf sightings.
We wish to remind people that if they encounter a wolf that they should immediately haze it. Please do not stop to take a photo.Wave your arms to make yourself look bigger, shout loudly and use noisemakers. Let the wolves know, in no uncertain terms, that they need to respect you and you will not tolerate their presence!! Use your most aggressive body language; take on the alpha role. If you are in a car honk your horn.
We want you to scare them away, so they don't get accustomed to humans.
We need to keep our wolves wild and everybody safe. Further guidance is given in our learning to live with wolves primer attached.
