last Friday Market of the summer season 2023!The market will continue weekly 12-3pm on Fridays, but this is your last chance for some vendors, including these two local artists:
Yori with his Everyday CeramicsYori worked in commercial ceramics for 46 years, starting in Southern California. A sailboat adventure from Washington state to Alaska brought Yori and his wife Ann Marie to Gorge Harbour in 2002, where they've stayed ever since. When Yori retired 8 years ago, he started making his own ceramics. In his native Japan, "there are many traditional ceramic towns locations and styles, but my ceramics are not traditional. They are easy to use, functional but unique daily use items." Yori really enjoys meeting people, including many return customers, at the summer market.
Ron with his Arbutus Arts Ron has been a hobby wood turner on and off since he was 12. He's lived on Cortes full-time since 1998, and handcrafts his various cooking and serving utensils mainly from arbutus as well as yew. “The Arbutus tree’s wood has such a wide range of colors and textures, and, because of its hardness, it finishes to the smoothest of smooth. It is easily the winner as my favorite wood.” Ron creates pieces for both right- and left-handed cooks!
