1949 - August 21, 2023
It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Michael David Barry announce his passing after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was born and raised in Courtenay. He followed his father’s footsteps and became a lineman with BC Hydro. He learned from his dad an incredible work ethic and was always willing to do the hard work to get the job done.
Mike was thoughtful and meticulous in how he approached life. It was his quiet, kind nature and consideration for others that would make friends and family feel welcomed and were important to him.
He had many interests including woodworking, hiking, and motorcycle rides. Mike enjoyed his long walks with his dog, Willow.
Mike and Joanne shared 24 beautiful years together.
Mike held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children. He was always there for them at any time.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Joanne, his children Mike (Jessica), Keith (Joy), Bill and Teresa, brother Jim (Chris), sister Sue (Ian) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Jim & Molly, sister Pat Castle, brother in-law Bob Castle, sister in-law Karen Barry, nephew Jim Barry and Cheryl Castle.
The family would like to thank Dr. Miller and all other medical staff in Campbell River, Nanaimo and Victoria Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 26 at 1921 Sandtrap Place, Campbell River from 1pm to 4pm. You are invited to come share memories with family and friends in Mikes honor.
In lieu of flowers a random act of kindness would be appreciated in Mike's memory.
