Learn about Mexican culture, language and history while making fun crafts. We will make several colourful, creative projects to bring home. We will use re-purposed items, clay, paint and more. Angelica is an art therapy practitioner from Mexico and has 25 years experience leading creative kids camps. She led a class on Cortes 5 years ago and has returned with exciting new ideas!

1-4pm “Be the Media” Introduction to Digital Video Content Creation with Jennifer Isme Pickford
ages 13-17

This program will explore digital video content creation to give students the confidence to make their own short films for uploading online to independent media outlets.

Students will view some examples of short films to help fuel brainstorming of concepts for the films they will create. They will focus on creating unique content that expresses their individual voice. They will also be encouraged to use their own cellphones or video-recording devices so they can continue to create content following the workshop.

This workshop will provide an overview of video-editing programs and apps. Some time will be spent on discussing the use of narration, titles, special effects, and music track overlay.
The final films will be uploaded online to an independent media outlet.
