You may have seen Dance Temple promotions. You maybe have wondered what Ecstatic Dance is… and so…
Ecstatic Dance is a free form dance in which the dancers move our bodies in whatever ways feel best and most natural to us. We move through a "wave" starting slow and gentle as we arrive in our bodies and ground in the space, maybe in stillness or into exploratory movement. As the DJ gradually increases the tempo we shift into higher intensity movement as we find our own flow state in which we can abandon ourselves to dancing through anything that arises for us. Sometimes it's meditative, other times a prayer or grieving, or a dance of playful joy and of community. Whatever your journey Dance Temple a place for healthy embodied expression for all bodies. After the music "peaks" we begin to descend back to ourselves slowing our movements gently back to integrating stillness at the completion of the dance.
While this may sound unusual to beginners, what it means is there is no wrong way to engage in ecstatic dance. By intent and by nature Dance Temple is a judgement-free space for each of us to grow into and move through our own healing and connections.
Dance Temple is your Cortes Island space for Ecstatic Dance, happening on alternate Thursday evenings for the rest of summer 7-9 at Manson's Hall $15-$25 donation at the door ($10 for low income). July 13 &27, August 10 & 24
