The Cortes Housing Society (CHS) is excited to announce the official ribbon cutting celebration to open the new trails on Rainbow Ridge that were built with a special Healthy Community grant. CHS continues to work on securing construction financing.
These trails will benefit the whole community, including the future residents of the 24 new homes on Rainbow Ridge. Trails are part of a wider active transportation vision to encourage more options for safely walking in the Manson’s Landing corridor with friends and pets, biking with family, and horseback riding.
- For the first time several non-profit community owned properties are linked through these trails in line with our long term sustainable off-road plan.
- The new East-West route links Manson’s Hall and the village shops and services via the Village Commons through Rainbow Ridge to both the Health Centre and Seniors Village.
- The new North-South route along higher & dryer ground links Siskin Forest trails, Rainbow Ridge, the School-to-Sea Trail and Manson’s Lagoon Park.
- The new trail system will also make it possible for the community to continue to walk and bike across the Rainbow Ridge land even once house construction begins.
One of the goals we achieved for the Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) grant was to provide more covid-friendly outdoor recreational space where people could safely walk 3 to 6 feet apart; accommodating strollers, bikes, horses and dogs to easily pass each other in two directions, or for people to walk side-by-side for a chat with friends and family.
Please join us in celebration of the official trail opening: Monday July 3rd,pick-up your ticket starting at 1pm to be eligible to win a door prize announced for the winning ticket holder at 2pm following the ceremony and ribbon cutting. Festivities are taking place on the Village Commons; follow the posters from Manson's Hall to the tent area. Snacks and refreshments, music, crafts and pony rides, fun for the whole family.
Hope to see you there,
