As I am sure most of us are aware, BC is experiencing a significant shortage of family doctors. Until now, the Cortes Island Health Center has been very fortunate to have rotating physicians consistently staffing our clinic. Unfortunately, the shortage is impacting physician availability and there will be weeks when there is no physician on site. The first instance will be the weeks of June 19th-June30th inclusive. Every effort was put into finding coverage for this period but unfortunately there simply is no-one available. Please expect longer than usual wait times for appointments. If your issue can wait an extra couple of weeks then please hold off calling for an appointment.

During weeks with no physician coverage, there will continue to be a nurse at the clinic for minor issues, and our paramedics as always are on-call for medical emergencies accessed by calling 9-1-1.

Virtual walk-in clinics can schedule doctor appointments by phone or video and provide referrals, requisitions and prescriptions.
