GinaT Seafest
Seafest 2023 was amazing. It was so good to be back after a hiatus of three years. The festival took place at Squirrel Cove this year, and against a backdrop of the coastal mountains, the setting was stunning.

The Cortes Island Seafood Association would like to thank the many volunteers who came out to help make the day such a success:

• Del Hendon and Barry Gregory were there to hand out plates and sell tickets
• Shucking oysters were Jeff, Sonia Friesen, Cec Robinson, and Linda’s grandson Germaine, Phil Allen, and Nikki and Savannah
• At the barbecues were George, Linda, Deborah, Richard Lyon, Steve and Linda Pocock, Henry Pocock, and Marina and Jackie
• Steaming clams was Gerri Davis, helped by Brian
• Rebecca Thacker and Joan made the salads
• Carl Simpson did garlic bread
• Sandy Emonds, Harriet and Meghan prepared prawns, and Suzanna poached oysters
• The cooks were Izzy and Gabriel, Penny and Claude, Ayami and Bruce Stryck.
• Christine Robinson, Dune and Lavinia Rendall helped in the food court, wherever they were needed.
• Tamara washed pots tirelessly.

We would also like to thank Eli of the Fire Department and Ashe and Wilf of BC Ambulance – for their presence and great help.

Mark Ochsenbein, Carl Simpson, and Richard – helped put up and take down tents.

Very huge thank you to Lorinda whose energy and enthusiasm were invaluable.

And a huge thank you to Curt without whose support this festival could not have taken place.

A big thank you to Gina for her excellent publicity.

Thank you to the coordinators – Dave Nikleva, Carl Simpson, and Julia Rendall.

If we have forgotten anyone or misspelled your name, please forgive us.

Thanks to everyone!

Scotty and the amazing musicians,
Sharon and Klahoose for their salmon and bannock on the beach,
and to all those who came out to enjoy the delicious food!

It was an awesome day.
