Cortes Value-Added Business Roadmap final presentationThe Cortes Community Forest Cooperative (CCFC) is pleased to announce the Business Roadmap for Value-Added Forestry Products project is complete. We invite you to join us for a final presentation by authors, Rami Rothkop and Oliver Scholfield this coming Monday, May 15, at 7 pm at Manson's Hall. This event will also provide an opportunity for Q&A and to discuss the results of the study.
The CCFC hired Rami and Oliver to help build a greater understanding of how Cortes Island can support the use of wood harvested on the island, and what initiatives have worked in other communities. Both have worked on similar initiatives, helping other small communities and First Nations in BC map out feasibility studies and business plans for value-added wood products.
Rami and Oliver will present findings from recent community consultations undertaken on Cortes, including interviews with local wood processors and other research. Their findings are informed by success with the Harrop-Proctor Community Forest's wood-processing business. The presentation will outline recommendations for possible next steps to further value-added business on Cortes Island.
