Wild Cortes is hiring a Curatorial Assistant/Host to assist with mounts, displays and interpretation this summer season.
Located at Linnaea Education Centre, 1255 Seaford Road, Wild Cortes is the off-site learning centre and lab of the Cortes Museum & Archives. The wage for this position is $20.75/hr for a 30-hour work week, from June to August 2023.
We are looking for a science minded, hands on, self-reliant and friendly person with a desire to learn about taxidermy, species at risk, and the natural history of Cortes Island. Computer skills are required, and secure housing must be in place. Applicants should be comfortable working with animal specimens.
In this position you will:
• assist the Natural History Curator/Taxidermist with hands on work
• learn about the basic ecology and environmental factors affecting Cortes Island and surrounding areas
• perform data collection and data input
• share this knowledge with visitors as they explore Wild Cortes and the EcoLab
