Friends of Cortes Island invites you to join us for a fascinating presentation about the Western Screech Owl, Saturday March 25th 2pm, Linnaea Farm Education Centre. Learn about the search for this elusive beautiful owl in coastal BC and here on Cortes, why it is in trouble and what is being done to help.

We will be joined by Emily Upham-Mills, Ecosystem Biologist from the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship. Emily will be highlighting the research taking place, and give you chance to literally hear the results of surveys – taken from recording units (think wildlife cam for sound) placed around the island and elsewhere in BC.

We will also be giving you an update on our efforts this year to track them down on Cortes and neighbouring discovery islands, and how we managed to find one!

There will be a chance after the presentation to listen to sound recordings, learn what is like to be a screech owl researcher, and see what you can find from a world of forest sounds.
