Carrie Saxifrage - wtf
Minimizing one’s fossil fuel transportation can feel like personal choice, but at some point it leads to the systems that need to change so we can all feel a bit freer from the burden of creating harm to those who are farther from the causes of climate change than we are.

For me, transportation questions led me to the ferries because I live in a ferry dependent community. The ferries led me to LNG, because the big ferries are responsible for most of BC ferries emissions and BC Ferries is in the middle of buying lots of LNG ferries – even though research suggests that LNG is worse for the climate than marine diesel fuel. LNG ferries led me to LNG, and LNG led to fracking in BC. What a mess. Thank you, Government of BC.

If any of this make sense to you – maybe you even sometimes think “WTF?!” – the wtf Friday regulars invite you to view Fracking the Peace, a movie produced by Stand Earth. Please join us at the Pioneer Room in Mansons Hall on Friday, March 3 at 5 pm. We will provide the snacks and popcorn you need to keep you going until dinner. We have interesting ideas to discuss after the movie. Masks appreciated if the event is well attended.
