This is my letter to Telus regards proposed new cell phone towers. I believe that you have one day left to write your own, if you wish to.

I do not consent to the construction of the proposed cell phone tower File BC 109114 in Manson’s Landing Cortes Island, nor to the proposed cell tower File BC 109130 in Whaletown Cortes Island.
I do not support their use for today’s 4G technology, never mind tomorrow’s 5G.
At this time I oppose the placement of any new cell towers anywhere on Cortes.

As a 72 year old full time resident of Cortes, I accept the additional health and safety risks of living on an Island with incomplete cell phone coverage.

The effects of electromagnetic fields on human health are not clear to the public, and their effects on non human species are even less clear.
The precautionary principle must prevail.

I have little trust in what I am told by senior governments, and even less in what I am told by industry.
Perhaps a panel of independent people would research and summarize the facts for Canadians. Widely known, trusted and respected people might assemble such a group.
If their conclusions were then provided directly to the public, in full, and in plain language, then I might take a second look at the question of new cell towers on Cortes.

For my children.
And for the beings around us that cannot send you their own letter.
