You do not have to have been good this year to be on Santa’s gift list. You only have to be a low-income renter and you may be eligible to receive a one-time $500 payment, tax free. This is thanks to the Government of Canada introducing a top-up to the Canada Housing Benefit, making a one-time payment available to low-income renters. You do not need to be receiving any other benefits to be eligible. Applications are being accepted December 12, 2022 through March 31, 2023.

All we, at the Cortes Housing Society, want for Christmas is that our project keeps moving forward, so that by this time next year, many can start anticipating new affordable housing options materializing on Rainbow Ridge.

May it be so Santa,
Sandra Wood, CHS Executive Director,
On behalf of the Cortes Community Housing Society (CHS)
