Who is the Harbour Authority of Cortes Island:

The Harbour Authority of Cortes Island (HACI) is a volunteer based, not-for profit society started in 1999, who, under contract with Small Craft Harbours, operates the government wharves on Cortes. It is governed by an 8-member, volunteer board of directors made up of local individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including commercial fisheries, aquaculture, tourism operators and recreational boaters, all based on Cortes Island. The HACI employees two, part-time, year-round staff, with a summer student joining most summers. The HACI is responsible for the operation of 4 Small Craft Harbour docks on Cortes Island, (Manson’s Landing, Cortes Bay, Squirrell Cove, Gorge Harbour) as well as the Whaletown dock which, after being upgraded, was formally purchased by the HACI from Transport Canada in 2009.
