On
November 17, 2022 Telus posted a public notice regarding a revised location for their proposed cell tower. This 63.1-meter tower (that's 207
feet) was overwhelmingly opposed by the Cortes community during the last two consultation periods, with nearly 100 letters expressing non-support, as well as a locally circulated petition signed by 140 residents.
As part of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) protocol, Telus must invite the public to comment on their revised location before the proposal is approved.
The proposed site is situated '200 meters from the northern lot line and adjacent residential uses', which is still inappropriately close to the community hub of Mansons, residential homes, health centre, elementary school, and cemetery.
If you wrote letters during the last two public consultation periods, please be aware you must write
again for this current proposal. If you have concerns about or opposition to a 207 foot cellular tower being constructed on the south end of Cortes, please send your comments, concerns, and/or statement of non-support to:

the online petition. Letters must be submitted by end of day, January 13, 2023.
