About the instructor:
Kristen began introducing herself as an artist when she was 8 years old, which is probably her
most important credential. At age 12 her parents enrolled her in an evening art class for adults, taughtby Charles Mulvey, whose only requirement was the purchase of professional grade sable brushes and 300 lb hand-cast paper “on which to lay a proper watercolour wash.” Those lessons eventually led to a Ph.D. In Art Education from the University of Oregon. Kristen taught in the Art Education and Foundation Divisions at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design for 11 years before returning in 1990 to the west coast to paint full time. Throughout years of being an oyster farmer, drum maker and member of various education and art gallery boards--she continues to make art in some form every day.
