Miranda Cross-FOCI
Hello Wetland Friend,
Thank you for your help and support on the Dillon Creek Wetland Restoration Project so far. If you’re not familiar with the project, please reach out and get involved! This project would not be possible without your support, time, and people power! Thank you!
It's time to do some work to repair and prevent erosion before the winter rains. This will involve moving rocks and soil by hand/wheelbarrow/bucket and transplanting some rush/sod clumps.
Wetland Maintenance Work Bee:
Friday September 16th, 10am - 2pm
Tools to bring (if you have them): Wheel barrows, shovels, buckets with handles, gloves, loppers, secateurs,
*steel toe boots recommended*
Please join us and help take care of our wonderful wetland project to benefit the lakes and wetland wildlife. It's a lovely time to see the wetlands, at low water, and it's amazing to see the revegetation success! If you're really lucky, you may get a glimpse of our wetland resident Muskrat!
The soil will be rough and muddy, so please wear appropriate footwear and watch out for uneven ground. Also please come prepared for the weather, rain or shine, and bring water and food that you’ll need for the day. As per usual, FOCI will provide some light refreshments.
Please park in Linnaea Farm main parking lot and walk into the First Field site via the north driveway past the machine shop.
Please do not attend this event if you are feeling any COVID symptoms (sore throat, fever, headache, chills, difficulty breathing, etc).
If you'd like to join us, please be in touch with Miranda Cross by email salixwetlandsgmail.com or call/text at 250-850-9020 for details, or just show up! When you arrive, please check in with Miranda or Autumn for direction.
I really appreciate all the time, energy, and support you've already contributed to this project. Thank you so much!
Looking forward to a fun work bee day at the wetlands!
Miranda
