Operations are getting under way in the community forest between Gorge Harbour Road and Thunder Road.

The current plan is to build approximately 580 meters of road into the area in support of the wider goal of implementing a wildfire mitigation strategy for the area and the wider island.

There will be a community firewood day in the area later on in October, and a call will go out for names of senior or people in need in the coming weeks.
